Keurig Kold: Hit or miss?
While it's still early days for Keurig's new cold carbonation system, bosses admitted in November they would likely only sell 60-100,000 units in the first 12 months, not the hundreds of thousands previously predicted, and said consumers wanted the machines to be smaller, cheaper and more versatile. Canadean's Tom Vierhile, meanwhile, said Kold didn't enable consumers to customize beverages but merely replicate products they can already buy in stores - without offering a price advantage.
Euromonitor's Howard Telford, in turn, noted that convenience had been a big factor in driving sales of Keurig's original coffee machines, but said cold drinks were "already convenient" for consumers.
