“Slightly more than 3 in 10 people who do not use energy drinks or energy shots avoid them because they have too much caffeine,” according to Mintel food and drink analyst Beth Bloom.
“A few companies are addressing this concern by launching energy beverages that are caffeine free,” she adds.
Her first example of such a drink is Xyience Xenergy+ Hydration Tropical Punch Energy Drink.
Claimed as the official energy drink of the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC), a mixed martial arts event, it promises ‘extreme science for the active lifestyle’.
This non-carbonated drink is caffeine-free, electrolyte enhanced, has B vitamins and nutrients, and contains neither calories nor sugar.
The brand claims it offers energy as well as restorative electrolytes, and without the dehydrating effects of caffeine. It has all natural flavours and retails in a 16-fl. oz. can.
