Jim Beam Racing: Kids’ clothing line appropriate?
This complaint saw a petitioner take issue with Jim Beam’s Racing Kids Team clothing line: t-shirts, a jacket and cap using Jim Beam colors and branding, with ‘Jim Beam’ replaced by ‘The Team’.
They believed it was highly inappropriate for children to wear alcohol company-branded clothing, which it said was directed at kids and associated the Jim Beam brand with youth.
The AARB agreed and requested Jim Beam Racing Kids Team to withdraw the clothing line immediately, and asked Beam Global Australia to reconsider its sponsorship of V8 supercars.
To little avail, it seems: “As of May 13 2013, the AARB had not been notified of any action by Beam Global Australia in response to the determination," the body wrote.
