Skinnygirl Cocktails: ‘Strong appeal’ to young people
Both the name and packaging (notably the image thereon) of Skinnygirl Cocktails fell foul of a complaint to the AARB that said they would appeal strongly to young people, while the name ‘Skinnygirl’ also suggests that consuming the RTD will, in the AARB’s words “help you to be skinny”.
Upholding the complaint, the AARB encouraged brand owner, Beam Global Australia, to reconsider its use of imagery and design that appeal to young people, but said that (as of May 13) it had not been notified of any action taken by the firm.
