Could German-style quark unlock new US category?
No it’s not an elementary particle, neither is it a yogurt. Startup Elli Quark launched its German-style quark – a mild, smooth, fresh cheese, typically made without rennet or salt – via the natural channel of the US market from April.
The initial product range (pictured) is made from all-natural, non-GMO ingredients, and features five flavors. There are 80-90 calories per serving, 14-17g of protein and no fat.
“I think there is a great opportunity, because we will be sitting on the cottage cheese shelf. So we don’t really have a close competitor because we will be the only quark there,” Sachin Bhakta from Elli Quark said.
