Linpac said other European markets had shifted from polypropylene (PP) to PET and the latest investment would help Germany become more active in producing the latter.
Benefits of switching to PET included extended shelf life so products could be transported further around the world and clearer clarity which helped the product stand out in the market, said the firm.
Linpac cited Datamonitor saying that chilled food will show 2% growth per annum for the next three years and rigid plastic was also growing due to prepacked fresh food.
