Spadel Group has signed an agreement with mineral water company Eaux Minérales de Ribeauvillé (EMR), owner of the Carola mineral water brand.

The deal for an undisclosed sum means the company now owns the Carola bottled water brand, from Nestlé Waters France.

Alsace-based EMR employs around 50 staff and had an annual turnover of €16.3m ($21m) last year with an EBITDA of €1.9m.

"This acquisition is part of Spadel’s strategy, which focuses on the commercialization of natural water brands with a strong regional position,” said Mark Wood, Spadel MD.

“It allows for a strengthening on the French market French, especially in the East and Alsace. The Carola represents for Spadel, already owner of the Alsacienne natural water brand Wattwiller, an important complementarity for its brand portfolio in France."

Spadel acquired Wattwiller in 2004 and owns the Spa water brand in Belgium and Brecon Carreg in Wales.
