The European Commission says it is responding to industry concerns by dropping proposed amendments that would have allowed rosé to be produced by blending red and white table wines.
European and Australian wine makers will kick off the New Year potentially toasting each other’s health after agreeing a new deal to respect geographical indication (GI) like champagne and sherry alongside other trademarks.

though she vowed yesterday to get tough on wine enrichment as part
of industry reform in the bloc.
The sugar industry must take greater responsibility to ensure the
successful restructuring of the EU market, said the European
Commissioner for agriculture.
A controversial agreement to protect Europe's traditional wine
names like Champagne and Port from use by American winemakers has
been officially signed by the US and European Union.
