CCL Decorative Sleeves (CCL) has created glow-in-the-dark bottle sleeves for British water brand Whitewater.

Nottinghamshire company In2 Rehab Brands developed WhiteWater, which was launched at the Dalt Vila music festival Ibiza in May.

Antony Harrison, In2 Rehab Brands, said: “We wanted to develop a product that fell right down the center of bottled waters and energy drinks, categories in which growth dynamics are phenomenal.”

The water comes in 500ml bottles, contains green tea, sodium and potassium, and is marketed for both day and night consumption.

The sleeve has a blue background with a Yin and Yang ‘tattoo’ and an island motif design. When exposed to UV light the packaging glows electric blue.

‘Whitewater becomes your drink and your glowstick!’

In the right environment WhiteWater becomes your drink and your glowstick,” Harrison said.

CCL used gravure printing in four colours including a UV glow-in-the-dark and luminescent ink effect for the sleeve.

The company told FoodProductionDaily.com that gravure is a form of intaglio printing, like engraving. It can produce fine, detailed images and can be used for short or long run printing.

Founded in 1979 in Essex, CLL Decorative Sleeves was acquired by CCL Industries, Toronto Canada in 2007.

It has also made sleeves for brands including Southern Comfort, Jack Daniels, Heinz and Good ol’ Sailor.

In2 Rehab has plans to develop the WhiteWater range by introducing additional varieties, including Aloe Ibiza and Coco Loco.

The water is only available in Ibiza but will soon be launched on Amazon and will be available in 27 countries.
