Walki Group is to open its third production site in Poland in response to a growing customer base in Central and Eastern Europe.

The producer of protective packaging materials and technical laminates said production would start during Q3 2013 and the site would initially employ about 50 people.

“Being close to our customers has always been paramount to Walki and with this green field facility we will now be able to offer shorter lead times and on a longer term a wider product offering”, said Leif Frilund, president and CEO.

The plant in south west Poland will begin with a focus on the customer segments, the forest industry and consumer packaging.

“Further, we will have more opportunities to optimize our European production activities and to get access to new raw-material sources,” said Timo Finnström, executive vice president – operations.
