The company said the product would be suitable for 3-in-1 coffee, milk tea, cappuccino and cocoa drinks. Processors could also save more than 30 cents per kilogram on the end product by using the ingredient, it added.
The creamer offered manufacturers of sweetened instant drinks the possibility to maintain virtually the same strength of sweetness and cut calories by more than 20% without using artificial sweeteners.
Because the creamer used fewer raw materials, it also meant manufacturers could save on packaging materials, transport, water and energy consumption, said the business.
“The concept also responds to the importance of more sustainable production and ingredients supply,” said Bas van Driel, business unit director, FrieslandCampina Kievit. “The CO2 footprint can be driven down by as much as 12%.”

Reducing total sugar content
The solution involves replacing the standard glucose syrup used in such instant hot drinks with sugar, reducing total sugar content by more than 40%. The ‘space’ released in the end product offered customers the possibility to add functional ingredients to the formula, the firm said.
It added that the new product answered the demand from the food industry for healthy, natural ingredients.
