It has also published a list of top overall brewing companies in the US, 40 of which are small and independent craft brewing companies.
The Brewers Association defines a craft brewer as one that is small, independent and traditional: with an annual production of 6 million barrels of beer or less; and with less than 25% of the brewery owned or controlled by an alcoholic beverage industry member that is not itself a craft brewer.
Bart Watson, chief economist for the Brewers Association, said:“In an increasingly competitive and mature marketplace, these brewing companies continue to lead and pave the path for small and independent craft brewers.”
The full lists can be found here; while more in-depth reports on the sector will be delivered at the 2018 Craft Brewers Conference in Tennessee next month.
