The European Federation of Bottled Waters (EFBW) has appointed a Nestlé Waters executive as its new president with a brief to protect the image of natural mineral and spring waters.

The appointment of Hubert Genieys, senior vice-president of corporate communications and corporate Affairs at Nestlé Waters, was decided at EFBW’s AGM, 21-23 June.

EFBW Secretary General Patricia Fosselard said: “Not only does he have depth of knowledge and sound insight of the bottled waters sector, his vision will be instrumental in helping to strengthen our position across Europe.”

The appointee has over 20 years experience in the trade after working for Perrier since 1992 then moving to industry-giant Nestlé Waters in 2006.

EFBW said Genieys duties will include continuing the industry’s eco commitment and protecting natural mineral and spring waters at European and international level.

EFBW is a not-for-profit trade association based in Brussels, representing over 500 bottlers across Europe. Genieys will preside over the federation for a two-year term.
