UK contract packaging firm Drampac has purchased its fourteenth CRC
case sealer from packaging equipment supplier Selaed Air.

Designed and built by the Italian machinery manufacturers, Mondo and Scaglione, the case sealers are operating north of the border where they are being used to seal cases of Scotch whisky for brands such as Allied, Diagio, Dewar's and William Grant.

Drampac believes that the CRC case sealer is ideal for creating packs for spirit bottles, cans, jars and other cylindrical shaped containers, and offers a fully automated solution including erecting, gluing and sealing card into a rigid carton around the products.

Drampac has installed the case sealers at its three factories in Dumbarton, Bellshell and Paisley, Scotland. Between them, the workforce of 120 turns out 150,000 cases of whisky a week, which equates to a massive six million each year.

Drampac partner Dick Brock claims that the efficiency and reliability of the CRC case sealers has helped increase the company's success over the past few years.

"We have installed a variety of Mondo products including case sealers, case erectors, tube inverters and a tube packer, so we knew that we could trust the CRC to deliver first class results," he said.

"The machines are able to cope easily with the high volume of production we require and at the same time remain reliable. And their ability to take quick changeovers in their stride - and so keep production times at the optimum level - is another vital ingredient in their success."

European product manager at Sealed Air, Carolyn Radford, said that the recent order underlined the fact that the CRC case sealer is becoming an industry standard.

"This latest order shows continued trust in our equipment and service, which is great news for us," she said. "We have maintained a great relationship with Drampac, I am more than happy that Sealed Air's service can match the reputation of its machines."
