The ability to package products of almost any type, dimension and format at high speeds are stand-out features claimed for a multi-packing beverage system by manufacturers R.A Jones.

The company, a subsidiary of Oystar Packaging, said the New Meridian XR Multi-Packer has added versatility to the best-in-class speeds that characterises the other systems in its portfolio.

The machine has the ability to “package a wide range of product types, diameters and heights in virtually any package style and format” of either beverage cans or bottles, said the firm.

Pack speeds

Standard features include metric stainless steel design, tool-less changeover and various can or bottle sizes from 6 to 24 ounces. The machines can be configured for single-tier 4 to 24 packs, said a R.A Jones statement.

The Meridian XR’s dual pitch provides pack processing rates of up to 300 packs per minute- which the company describes as “the highest possible speeds”. It combines this with the “lowest possible linear speeds”, which reduces component wear by half, a company spokesman told FoodProductionDaily.com.

The lower linear speeds also allow pack and flap handling at much lower velocities and accelerations for more precise controls, added the spokesman.

Quick changeover

The company said the highly engineered components minimises maintenance and repair requirements.

Operational efficiency is further enhanced by quick and easy changeovers which can be carried out in between 10 to 30 minutes.

The system has a compact footprint and its 27.5” frame will fit almost any application and can be shipped in a single section. This keeps installation time and costs to a minimum, said R.A Jones.

Like all its machines, the Meridian XR features direct coupled servos and belt drives providing automatic pitch changes on the transport during size changeovers and smooth pick-off and opening on the three head rotary carton feed, said the firm.
