Lecture highlights: ‘We don’t know climate change results’
Highlights of Tuesday’s lecture series include an address by John Cole, production manager, Jackson Family Wines. The Californian winery has the seventh greatest market share in the US, and its Kendall Jackson cuvée is the country’s best-selling Chardonnay.
Cole spoke of Jackson Family Wine’s strategy: “artisan winemaking on a large scale”, with barrel fermentation and investment in land for vineyards.
Industry response to global warming was on the audience’s mind, and Cole speculated that California would become cooler because of climate change. “We all know it’s happening, but we don’t know what will be the results,” he said.
Lectures were followed by a tasting of whites by Brancott Estate, Arrogant Frog, Kendall Jackson, Colombelle and Kiwi Cuvée.
