PepsiCo – No.8 (58)
A non-mover compared from Forbes’ 2012 innovation list, PepsiCo (CEO Indra Nooyi is pictured) has placed its eggs in the ‘healthier’ food and beverage basket in emerging markets, and is rejigging its US portfolio, for instance, accordingly.
This may upset some investors in the short term, but may pay long-term dividends, as may astute moves by the Pepsi, Gatorade and Tropicana brandowner in emerging markets.
PepsiCo acquired dairy/beverage giant Wimm-Bill-Dann in December 2010 and entered a strategic alliance with Tingyi Holdings in 2012 that meant the two firms became soft drinks market leader in China, with Tingyi acting as PepsiCo’s franchise bottler.
