Sazerac, the global spirits company, is set to acquire UK-based vodka & RTD brand Au Vodka.

Sazerac, which owns brands such as Buffalo Trace and Southern Comfort, said that completion of the deal is anticipated within weeks but it would not confirm the terms of the transaction.

Au Vodka was founded in Swansea, Wales, in 2015 by Charlie Morgan and Jackson Quinn, with broadcaster and DJ Charlie Sloth joining as an investor.

The brand, known for its distinctive gold bottle, employs more than 80 people, and its products are sold across the UK and a growing number of international markets.

This is the latest acquisition from the American drinks company which recently had an “unsolicited approach” to Brown- Forman rejected.

It already owns ready-to-drink brand Buzzballz and purchased Svedka vodka from Constellation brands in 2024.

In a statement Sazerac said the purchase of Au Vodka would provide it with the opportunity to “deepen its presence in the UK”.

It added: “Au Vodka has grown from a local start-up into one of the UK’s most recognisable spirits brands.”

“Known for its distinctive gold bottles, bold flavours and innovative ready-to-drink range, Au Vodka has built a highly engaged global audience and a strong presence across retail, hospitality and e-commerce.:

Sazerac is one of the world’s largest distilled spirits companies and owns over 500 brands including Buffalo Trace Bourbon, Eagle Rare, Weller, The Last Drop Distillers, Fireball Cinnamon Whisky, BuzzBallz, Southern Comfort, SVEDKA Vodka, Meyers’s Rum, White X Cognac, Sazerac de Forge Cognac and Paddy’s Irish Whiskey.
