Beverage manufacturers are continuing to innovate across both alcoholic and non-alcoholic segments, with a clear focus on functionality, flavour differentiation and occasion-led formats.
Energy drinks, mocktails and fortified wines are some of the categories evolving to capture consumer needs around wellness and versatility.
Functional benefits remain a key driver of NPD, particularly in energy and alcohol-free categories, where ingredients such as nootropics and adaptogens are gaining traction. This reflects a broader shift towards drinks that offer perceived mental and physical benefits alongside flavour.
Premiumisation also continues to shape category development, with producers investing in heritage, craft credentials and elevated formats. In traditional segments such as port, this is being matched by efforts to modernise serves and appeal to younger consumers.
At the same time, brands are tapping into cultural moments and global beverage traditions to differentiate their offerings. Whether through Latin-inspired spirits alternatives or event-driven launches, the focus is on creating relevant, occasion-based consumption opportunities.
Premium Blend Brisa

Premium Blend has launched Brisa Ardiente, a wine-based aguardiente-style product aimed at beer- and wine-licensed operators seeking to broaden their spirits-style offering.
The 24% ABV drink is designed to replicate the anise-forward flavour profile associated with traditional Colombian aguardiente while fitting within wine-based regulatory frameworks.
Available in 750ml, 225ml and 50ml formats, the product is positioned for a range of on- and off-trade applications including shots, cocktails and promotional sampling. Premium Blend highlights its suitability for restaurants, bars, convenience retail and event-led occasions, offering operators a flexible SKU mix to drive trial and incremental sales.
The launch is timed to coincide with increased demand around FIFA World Cup 2026 fixtures in the US and Colombian Independence Day on 20 July, particularly in markets such as South Florida.
Brisa Ardiente is part of Premium Blend’s wider portfolio of wine-based spirits alternatives, designed to deliver higher-margin opportunities and menu innovation without requiring a full liquor licence.
Mingle Mood

Mingle Mocktails has expanded its functional alcohol-free range with the launch of a Mingle Mood four-flavour variety pack, responding to strong demand following the line’s debut in September 2025.
The new pack features Berry Lemon Bliss, Serene Citrus Spritz, Juicy Watermelon Spritz and Subtly Spicy Margarita, extending the brand’s presence in the growing functional and non-alcoholic beverage space.
Each sparkling SKU is formulated with ashwagandha, lion’s mane and L-theanine, ingredients positioned to support relaxation, focus and overall balance. The products are designed to offer a premium alternative to alcoholic serves, while tapping into increasing consumer interest in mood-enhancing and better-for-you beverage options.
The variety pack format is aimed at driving trial and convenience across retail and social occasions, with Mingle highlighting its suitability for summer consumption moments such as outdoor gatherings and at-home entertaining.
Cockburn’s Tawny

Cockburn’s has expanded its portfolio with the launch of Vat & Barrel Reserve Tawny Port, targeting continued growth and premiumisation within the tawny segment.
The expression combines wines aged in large vats, preserving fruit-forward character, with those matured in smaller barrels to deliver added complexity, aligning with evolving consumer preferences for balanced, approachable styles.
The launch comes as tawny port demand rises in the UK, with category value up 24% over the past decade and Reserve Tawny performing strongly with 81% growth. Premium tawnies now represent more than half of premium port sales by value, driven by consumers trading up to aged expressions and increasing interest among younger drinkers, particularly in chilled and year-round serves.
Crafted from traditional Douro grape varieties including Touriga Nacional, Touriga Franca and Tinta Roriz, the new expression offers notes of red fruit, caramel and fruitcake. It is designed to be served lightly chilled at 12–14°C, tapping into growing consumption trends and mixology usage.
Tenzing Focus
Tenzing has expanded its Natural Energy+ platform with the launch of Natural Energy +Focus ‘White Peach’, targeting rising demand for functional energy drinks that support mental performance.
The new SKU builds on early UK momentum from the sub-range, with the +Lion’s Mane variant delivering 48% month-on-month growth since its March 2026 debut.

Formulated with a 1:1 blend of 160mg natural caffeine and L-theanine, the product is positioned to deliver sustained focus without spikes or crashes.
A triple tea base of matcha, white tea and green tea underpins the formulation, alongside additional functional ingredients including sakura extract and magnesium, aligning with wider consumer interest in nootropics and mood support.
Available now via Tenzing’s direct-to-consumer channel and set to roll out on Amazon from July in 12-packs priced at £28.99, the product will also reach specialty retail through wholesalers including Booker and Unnu.
