Spanish brewer Mahou San Miguel is strengthening its coffee business with the acquisition of La Flor Del Café and Gran Café Royal.

This is part of a diversification strategy for the brewer which recently created its Coffee Business Unit launching Café170 for the hospitality channel.

It has also recently launched a range of low and no beers and has been expanding into other categories such as functional drinks.

The company said this latest deal, the financial details of which were not disclosed, will allow the company to advance its goal of leading the segment within the hospitality channel and reinforces its diversification strategy beyond beer.

These brands will complement its Café170 range to strengthen its reach in the hospitality sector and help accelerate the nationwide rollout of its coffee business, it said.

With the addition of La Flor del Café and Gran Café Royal, Mahou San Miguel plans to accelerate its nationwide rollout, aiming to become a leading operator in the hospitality coffee sector.

Currently, the company is present with Café170 in markets such as Madrid, Valencia, Valladolid, the Balearic and Canary Islands, Murcia, and Granada.

Jesús Gómez Cáceres, General Manager of Mahou San Miguel’s Coffee Business Unit said the goal was to build a “solid, competitive coffee business” capable of delivering value to its customers.

“La Flor del Café and Gran Café Royale complement our portfolio, enhancing the very elements that define our offering: quality, service, and a close relationship with hospitality operators,” he said.

Under the terms of the agreement, Disbesa Darnés, the Spanish distribution company, will continue to develop both brands in Catalonia.

Across the rest of the country, Mahou San Miguel will drive their growth, initially through Disbesa Darnés and Voldis, its own distribution arm.

Mahou San Miguel recent expanded its portfolio with the launch of San Miguel Low, which has an alcohol content of just 2.7%. This new product will arrive in the hospitality sector during September 2026 with further roll out in January 2027, to include both hospitality and retail sectors.

The company also recently launched Mahou 0.0 Rubia and expanded its presence into new categories with Yuzz, a functional soft drink that pioneers the “Fun Skin Care” category in Spain.

It is also present in categories such as natural mineral water, energy drinks, coffee, and wine-based beverages, with brands such as Solán de Cabras, Refeel—made with 100% natural ingredients and low in calories—Café 170º, and Los Cachis.
