The urban brewery will be a fully functional facility capable of brewing and bottling the entire Eichhof product range. It will also create new opportunities for limited-edition and seasonal specialties, as well as innovations, the company said.
The brewery is expected to be operational in 2030 and Heineken Switzerland will realign its production structure with Lucerne becoming the centre for Eichhof beers, specialties, and it will become an innovation hub. Larger production volumes will in future be partially handled at its brewery in Chur.
Simultaneously, the company will modernise its headquarters in Lucerne and the associated office workspaces for its employees.
The company said it is investing a sum in the “double-digit millions” in the new urban brewery and headquarters.
There are also plans to redevelop the Eichhof Brewery into a modern residential and lifestyle district.
The company said it has signed a joint letter of intent with the cities of Lucerne and Kriens, as well as the municipal association LuzernPlus, regarding the development of the Eichhof site.
Marc Moser, Country Manager of Heineken Switzerland, said that Eichhof belongs to Lucerne.

Korintha Bärtsch, City Councillor and Head of the Department of Public Works for the City of Lucerne, welcomed the news that the tradition of beer being brewed at the Eichhof brewery remains. Bärtsch also said that the redevelopment of the site offers opportunity to revitalise unused production and storage areas and to develop the site into an attractive, publicly accessible space.
Maurus Frey, City Councillor and Head of the Department of Public Works for the City of Kriens, said “We are pleased that the traditional Eichhof brewery will remain at the Eichhof site,” and welcomed the plans for sn” attractive and vibrant place for living and working.”
