The Vita Coco Company is looking to drive growth in the coconut water category by expanding into the super-premium segment.

The US company has purchased Copra, the Thailand based producer of Thai Nam Hom coconut water, that it believes has built a “differentiated position” in the super-premium segment.

Copra has delivered Compound Annual Growth Rate (CAGR) net sales of 48% over the past three years, driven by strong performance in the cold-chain coconut water segment.

Thai Nam Hom is an aromatic coconut variety from Thailand, known as “fragrant water” due to its sweet, creamy taste and jasmine aroma.

The acquisition comes as the coconut water market continues to expand globally.

The global coconut water market size was valued at $5.1bn in 2025 and is projected to grow from $6bn in 2026 to $19.3bn by 2033, at a CAGR of 18.2% from 2026 to 2033. The largest regional market is Latin America (27.1% revenue share, 2025) while the fastest-growing regional market is Europe.

The company also announced its financial results for the second quarter ended 30th June 2026 which saw net sales hit $216m, an increase of 28%, driven by Vita Coco Coconut water growth of 21%. This growth is being driven by increases in both household penetration and average consumption per household as well as consumer education highlighting the benefits of coconut water.

Vita Coco said the purchase of Copra gives it a platform to participate in an “attractive, fast-growing segment” of the coconut water category.

It plans to invest in Copra to build a strong super premium brand and expects to create value by expanding capacity, improving operational efficiency, supporting existing customer demand and adding new relationships.

“We are so excited to welcome the Copra team to the Vita Coco family. Coconut water, which is the fastest growing category in the beverage aisle, is still in the early innings of what it can become. We see a meaningful opportunity to keep expanding the category by meeting consumers in new occasions, formats and price tiers,” said Michael Kirban, Co-Founder and Executive Chairman of Vita Coco.

“Copra brings specialised capabilities, deep sourcing expertise and a super-premium offering that can help us serve more consumers and expand our market share while continuing to help shape and lead the category’s continued global growth.”

“The super-premium segment of the Coconut Water category, defined by Thai Nam Hom water, is experiencing very strong growth. Our coconut water is sold chilled and has a sweet, aromatic flavour and slightly pink colour,” said Chai Phonsuwan, Co-Founder of Copra.

The purchase price consisted of an upfront consideration of $175 million while the initial purchase price consisted of 80% cash on hand with the balance paid in Vita Coco common stock.

Copra expects their full year 2026 net sales to be greater than $100m. Copra sales are predominately in the Americas with opportunity to expand internationally and to significantly grow the branded business, Vita Coco said.
