From protein drinks to flavor innovation, we take a look at beverage NPD around the world

Beverage innovation is important for many reasons: especially in a rapidly growing market.

And in a saturated market, unique flavors, formats and experiences help brands stand out: building consumer engagement and offering something new an exciting.

We take a look at some of the latest beverage launches around the globe.

Nestlé launches Milo Pro

Milo Pro (Nestle)

Nestlé has launched Milo Pro: a drink with three times more protein than traditional Milo drinks targeted at young adults.

Having made its debut in Indonesia, the drink will be rolled out across Southeast Asia next year.

In Southeast Asia, 57% of teenagers want to include more protein-rich foods in their diets. And in some places, adolescents are not receiving sufficient protein.

Protein is important for young people to grow and develop quickly: repairing body tissues and helping make important substances such as enzymes, antibodies and hormones.

Gatorade hydration booster

Gatorade
Gatorade Hydration Booster Relax (Gatorade)

Gatorade is expanding its all-day hydration lineup with a new Gatorade Hydration Booster variant: Relax.

Available in Raspberry Lemon flavor, Gatorade Hydration Booster Relax is an electrolyte drink mix crafted with L-Theanine and magnesium to help consumers relax and unwind.

Backed by the Gatorade Sports Science Institute, Gatorade Hydration Booster was developed with an advanced blend of electrolytes and functional ingredients, with no artificial flavors or sweeteners and no added colors.

It’s now available for purchase online (via Gatorade and Amazon) with a suggested retail price of $8.00-$10.00 for a pack of six.

Estrella Damm 0.0%

Damm
Estrella Damm 0.0% (Damm)

Beer brand Estrella Damm is launching Estrella Damm 0.0%, a premium non-alcoholic beer, in the UK.

The product is rolling out across on-trade hospitality venues and off-trade retailers (starting with Sainsbury’s).

Damm has pioneered a brewing technique to ensure all alcohol is removed while preserving the taste.

The light Mediterranean style of Estrella Damm 0.0% comes from the use of rice in the brewing process which contributes to the beer’s refreshing and distinctive taste, which pairs well with food.

The brew launches after a successful trial period on draught at Youngs.

Lipton is launching a new line, Lipton Fruit & Herbal Teas, across the US this month.

The drinks come in four flavors: Golden Chamomile, Peach Paradise, Smooth Mint and Lemon Ginger Refresh.

Many consumers can be put off by overly earthy or medicinal notes: so the new line instead puts ‘rich, vibrant flavor’ first, accompanied by a modern aesthetic.

Coffee Palmer

Coffee Palmer (Coffee Project NY)

Coffee Project NY, a New York-based independent coffee roaster and education hub, has launched a new RTD Coffee Palmer.

Inspired by the classic Arnold Palmer but with an added jolt, the Coffee Palmer blends 60% of Coffee Project’s signature, house-roasted “Woke Up in New York” drip coffee with 40% tart lemonade, lightly sweetened with natural Turbinado sugar.

The result is a ‘bright, unexpected take on hot weather refreshment’.

The drinks are made from 100% Arabica beans roasted in-house; with water, Turbinado sugar and crystallized lemon.

Packaged in sleek 8oz cans, the Coffee Palmer is available in four-packs for $20 and can be enjoyed straight from the can, poured over ice, or mixed into a creative mocktail or cocktail.

The Coffee Palmer is available at Coffee Project NY cafés and online.

Sagres beer

Sagres
Sagres (Kingfisher Drinks)

Premium world beer and cider company, Kingfisher Drinks, has launched Sagres Sol & Mar in the UK.

The drink is light, crisp and brewed with a subtle touch of sea salt from the Portuguese coast. The salt brings out the smooth, easy drinking character, and refines and balances the flavors of beer, coming in at 4% ABV.

The beer is made in Sagres, which is located on the far Western edge of Portugal’s Algave, using only natural ingredients to capture the flavors of the region. More than two million Brits visit Portugal every year, so the new beer launch promises to offer a ‘refreshing reminder’ of sunny getaways.
