French Bloom: L’Extra Brut

L’Extra Brut (French Bloom)

Sparkling alcohol-free wine French Bloom has launched L’Extra Brut: the world’s first 0.0% alcohol, 100% organic Chardonnay extra brut sparking wine.

Sulfite-free and sugar-free, L’Extra Brut is a ‘breakthrough in non-alcoholic winemaking, offering a refined expression of French savoir-faire with precision, elegance, and complexity’.

The Languedoc region, specifically Limoux, provides the ideal terroir for French Bloom cuvées. The “oceanic terroir,” influenced by the Atlantic climate, preserves the grapes’ acidity and ensures exceptional balance.

After numerous trials in alcohol removal and extensive research, this terroir was chosen by French Bloom for the richness and complexity required to craft exceptional alcohol-free sparkling wines.

In this region, the oceanic climate promotes fresher wines, with slower grape maturation – an ideal condition for creating French Bloom’s L’Extra Brut. The limestone and clay-rich soil enhance complexity and freshness, giving the collection its vibrant minerality and tension.

Bolle Chardonnay

Bolle Chardonnay (Bolle)

Bolle Drinks has launched Bolle Chardonnay, its first non-alcoholic still wine, into the UK market.

Crafted from a blend of 75% Chardonnay and 25% Sylvaner grapes, this Chardonnay has been made to capture the essence of its terroir and demonstrate the quality possible via pioneering non-alcoholic winemaking.

With an alcohol content of less than 0.5% ABV, BOLLE Chardonnay has a clear golden appearance and offers a clean, light palate with balanced acidity. Flavor notes include citrus fruits and ripe pear, leading to a smooth texture, creamy mouthfeel, and a lingering finish.

Bolle Drinks CEO, Gary Read, said: “The wine is made using a similar process as our sparkling wines, by re-fermenting the de-alcoholised wine to naturally create all the flavor, aroma and mouthfeel, resulting in a bright, crisp, and elegantly balanced wine. We are the only non-alcoholic wine company in the world that uses the technique of double fermentation.”

The growing market for non-alcoholic beverages has been underscored by the IWSR, predicting the market will grow by $4bn over the next 4 years.
