John Murphy will become president and chief financial officer at The Coca-Cola Company in October.
Murphy, who currently serves as executive vice president and CFO, will add the president role following the retirement of Brian Smith (who has been president and chief operating officer since 2019 and will stay with the company as a senior executive through February 2023).
Murphy has served as CFO since 2019. He oversees Mergers & Acquisitions, Investor Relations, Global Strategy, Tax, Treasury, Audit, Accounting and Controls, Reporting and Analysis, Real Estate and Risk Management. As president and CFO, he will take on expanded duties, including oversight of Global Ventures; Platform Services; online-to-offline (O2O) digital transformation; and customer and commercial leadership.
From 2016 to 2018, Murphy served as president of the company’s former Asia Pacific group. He was also responsible for the company’s Bottling Investments Group, primarily focused on key markets in Southeast and Southwest Asia.
From 2013 to 2016, Murphy served as president, South Latin business unit, where he was responsible for operations in Argentina, Bolivia, Chile, Paraguay, Peru and Uruguay. From 2008 to 2012, he was president, Latin Center business unit, responsible for operations in 31 countries in Central America, the Caribbean and the Andean Region.
Murphy began his career at Coca-Cola in 1988 as an international internal auditor and, in 1991, moved to Coca-Cola Japan as executive assistant to the CFO. This was followed by various other roles with Coca-Cola Japan (including deputy president), Coca-Cola’s Singapore bottling partner, F&N Coca-Cola Ltd., as regional manager in Indonesia and as vice president of Business Systems for Coca-Cola North America.
Before joining Coca-Cola, Murphy worked for four years as an auditor for Price Waterhouse in Dublin.
Keurig Dr Pepper Inc. has revamped its executive leadership team: alongside its previously-announced CEO transition.
As announced in July, Ozan Dokmecioglu moves from CFO & President, International to become the company's CEO; while Chairman & CEO Bob Gamgort transitions to the role of Executive Chairman.
Alongside the CEO change, a number of other leadership changes are taking place.
Derek Hopkins, who currently serves as President, Cold Beverages and has broad responsibility for KDP's commercial functions, will leave KDP at the end of 2022 to pursue family and personal interests. Hopkins will continue to serve in an advisory role in 2023 to Gamgort and Dokmecioglu, with whom he has partnered for the past six years to transform Keurig Green Mountain (KGM), lead the successful integration of the KDP merger and drive outsized growth for KDP's cold business.
KDP will separate Hopkins' current role into two – President, Commercial and a more focused President, Cold Beverages role. KDP has launched an external search for a new President, Cold Beverages, and expects to fill the role prior to year-end.
Andrew Archambault, who currently serves as Chief Customer Officer, has been promoted to the President, Commercial role, effective Aug. 1, and becomes a member of the Executive Leadership Team, reporting to Dokmecioglu. Archambault joined KDP in 2018 and has more than 25 years of leadership experience in the CPG industry. In his new position, Archambault will continue to lead sales planning and execution for national and regional accounts, with the additional responsibility for fountain foodservice and revenue growth management.
Mauricio Leyva, who joined KDP in 2020 and currently serves as President, Coffee, will assume an expanded role as Group President, effective Aug. 1. In this role, Leyva will continue to lead Coffee and add responsibility for the international businesses previously led by Dokmecioglu, as well as the continued evolution of the digitalization of KDP.
David Thomas, who has been with KDP and its predecessor companies since 2006 and currently serves as Chief Research & Development Officer, will be retiring from the Company upon the naming of his successor. An external search is underway, and Thomas will remain with KDP until this time.
At the time of the CEO transition announcement, the Company communicated that it had launched an external search process for a CFO to replace Dokmecioglu.

George Lagoudakis, who currently serves as Senior Vice President of Finance for Cold Beverages and has more than 25 years of global financial management experience in the food industry, has been appointed to the interim role of KDP CFO, reporting to Dokmecioglu.
All other Executive Leadership Team members will continue in their current roles.
Costa Coffee CEO Jill McDonald stepped down from the role at the end of July, returning to McDonald’s to take on an international role in the business.
McDonald joined Costa in 2019 after the company was bought by Coca-Cola; ‘playing a pivotal role in setting up the business for future success. She was instrumental in helping Costa navigate the pandemic, helping Costa emerge safely and stronger’.
Costa Coffee says it will name her successor shortly.
Prior to joining Costa, McDonalds was managing director of clothing and home for UK retailer Marks & Spencer; and CEO for Halfords Group.
McDonald held three roles with McDonald’s Corp. from 2006 to 2015, ultimately as UK CEO and division president, North Europe.
From 1990 to 2006, McDonald worked for British Airways, eventually as global head of marketing. McDonald started her career as a graduate trainee at Colgate-Palmolive in 1987.
Diageo has appointed Debra Crew as Chief Operating Officer, and Claudia Schubert as President, North America, effective 1 October 2022.
Crew is currently President, North America and Global Supply. As Chief Operating Officer, she will take accountability for driving continued performance momentum across Diageo’s markets, brands and supply operations globally.
In July 2020, Crew was appointed President, North America: where she is credited with embedding greater external focus and connectivity across the market’s teams and strengthening commercial execution, resulting in market share gains and 20% organic net sales growth in fiscal 21, and 13% organic net sales growth in the first half of fiscal 22.
She is the former president and CEO of Reynolds American, Inc., having previously served as president and chief operating officer, and president and chief commercial officer. Prior to that, she spent five years at PepsiCo, where she served as president, North America Nutrition; president, PepsiCo Americas Beverages; and president, Western Europe Region. Prior to PepsiCo, Crew held positions with Kraft Foods, Nestlé S.A., and Mars, Inc. She currently serves on the board of Stanley Black & Decker, Inc.
Claudia Schubert is appointed President, North America, and will join the Diageo Executive Committee. Since being appointed President, US Spirits and Canada, in 2018, Claudia has reshaped the market’s strategy, put in place a strengthened route to market and built partnerships with Diageo’s distributors in order to deliver strong growth. In fiscal 21, organic net sales grew 24% in US Spirits, and 15% in the first half of fiscal 22.
Schubert brings 20 years of market and category experience at Diageo, having led the company’s Continental and Eastern Europe, US Wines and US Control States businesses. She began her career as a management consultant with Boston Consulting Group.
Beam Suntory has named Robbie Millar as Managing Director of the Scotch & Irish Brand House, overseeing a brand portfolio that includes Laphroaig, Bowmore, Auchentoshan and Kilbeggan.
Millar is an experienced leader with a 20-year career in the premium spirits and beer industry and a track record for building global brands. He joins from Carlsberg, where he served as VP Global Marketing, managing the company’s two largest brands – Carlsberg and Tuborg.
Prior to Carlsberg, Millar served as Global Director, Category Development for SAB Miller, Senior Partner and Managing Director for Kantar Consulting, and Managing Director for Compass Box Whisky.
Millar’s appointment further strengthens the company’s Brand House leadership, which includes end-to-end P&L management. Earlier this month, Beam Suntory announced the appointment of company veteran Carlo Coppola to Managing Director of the James B. Beam Distilling Co. Brand House.
Millar, a native of Scotland, will be relocating to the UK for the role. He will spend the majority of his time directly in Scotland to be close to Beam Suntory’s brand heritage and build relationships with the wider whisky community and trade.
Emmanuelle de Kerleau has been named as vice-president, public policy and government, for Coca-Cola Europacific Partners.
Previously vice-president of public affairs, communication and sustainable development for CCEP in France, de Kerleau has been promoted to the international role.
In the new role, de Kerleau will ensure the strategic direction of the group and work in collaboration with CCEP’s partners, including The Coca-Cola Company. She will also represent CCEP in soft drink trade body UNESDA.
She brings more than 20 years of international experience to the role, covering government affairs, CSR, and crisis management. Before joining CCEP, she worked for FedEx in Europe, overseeing European issues, legal affairs, and sustainability.
