Canopy Growth Corporation has named alcohol distributor Southern Glazer’s Wine & Spirits as the distribution partner for its US portfolio of CBD-infused beverages.

This partnership announcement follows the recent launch of Quatreau, Canopy’s first line of CBD-infused beverages sold in the US market, which will be the first beverage to be distributed under the agreement.

The move paves the way for distribution of CBD (and eventual THC) beverages and products in the US when permissible; and was facilitated by Constellation Brands (who owns 38.6% of Canopy Growth and uses SGWS for 70% of its own portfolio).

Southern Glazer’s will distribute Canopy Growth’s CBD beverages across seven states, with additional states to follow in the coming months. Southern Glazer’s will sell Canopy’s brands through its existing commercial infrastructure, including its e-commerce platform.

“Canopy Growth is one of the first US CBD beverage producers to access the nationwide network of a large-scale alcohol distributor to reach consumers across the US at mainstream retail stores,” says the company. “The agreement also showcases the benefits of the company’s strategic relationship with Constellation Brands, the global beverage leader.”

Quatreau sparkling water contains 20 mg of US grown hemp-based CBD, and comes in four flavors: Cucumber + Mint, Passion Fruit + Guava, Blueberry + Acai, and Ginger + Lime. With an MSRP of $3.99 per 12-ounce can, Quatreau is described as a ‘functional zero-sugar drink that delivers a natural, low calorie beverage alternative’. The stateside launch follows the 2020 rollout of Quatreau in Canada, where it is now the top-selling ready-to-drink CBD beverage.
