Keurig Dr Pepper will transition its Snapple and CORE brands to bottles made of 100% recycled (rPET) plastic, eliminating around 46.3 million pounds of virgin plastic a year.

RTD iced tea Snapple is already available in 16 oz. 100% rPET bottles in West Coast markets and will continue to roll out across the US through early next year.

100% rPET bottles for the bottled water brand CORE (acquired by KDP in 2018) will hit shelves early next year.

Across KDP’s portfolio of more than 125 brands, 20% of the material used in packaging is currently made from post-consumer recycled (PCR) content. Snapple and CORE's transition will take this up four percentage points.

The company has set goals for 30% post-consumer plastic across its portfolio by 2025.

Recycled plastic bottles help to lower greenhouse gas emissions by about 30%, compared to virgin plastic, says KDP.

Launching 100% recycled plastic bottles for Snapple and CORE is therefore the equivalent of taking 7,500 cars off the road for one year, saving 35,000 metric tons of emissions.

Each Snapple and CORE rPET bottle will feature a How2Recycle label, a standardized US labeling system that for communicating recycling instructions to consumers.
