Texas-based Yumix first debuted in the crowded alcohol space in August 2016, leveraging what it calls a ‘mix-it-fresh’ format. Each bottle separates the juice mixer from a liquor shot that pops off the bottom, allowing for on-the-spot mixing.
After several iterations of packaging and rotating flavors, Yumix is now available in Margarita with tequila, Orange Mango with vodka and Cranberry Grapefruit with vodka.
Once mixed, each drink contains between 133-143 calories, 6g-8g of sugar and 10%-15% juice at 8.3% ABV.
This week Yumix announced new distribution at more than 400 Walmart stores across Arizona, California, Florida, Michigan, Missouri, Nevada and Washington, after having been selected at Walmart’s 2018 Open Call event.
The company also signed a new multi-state distribution deal with Southern Glazer’s Wine & Spirits, the largest wine and spirits distributor in the US. Yumix is also available in Texas and select regional retail chains.
Alex Garner, CEO of Yumix, said “After receiving the golden ticket at Walmart, Yumix needed a national distribution network to execute upon the opportunity. The first place we went was Southern Glazer’s.
“The leadership at Southern Glazer’s has been outstanding to work with, and we look forward to growing this relationship as we expand at Walmart and other retailers in 2020.”
Yumix says the draw of the product is in keeping the spirit separate from the juice mixer until consumption. It allows the brand to eliminate artificial sweeteners, preservatives and excessive amounts of sugar. It also provides two distinct nutrition panels per drink.
Lea Feghali, chief brand officer at Yumix, said “People should know exactly what’s in their cocktail, and Yumix gives them that option. Yumix is unique in the fact that we’re giving consumers control over the cocktail mixing process. The big payoff is a fresh, great tasting cocktail that goes anywhere.”
