Kiefel to group all packaging activities into one division

Kiefel says it will group all its packaging activities; in Freilassing (Germany) Mould & Matic (Austria) and Bosch-Sprang (the Netherlands) into one Kiefel Packaging Division.

The division will have four teams; Tray-Team (Germany); Cup and Bottle-Team (Austria) and a Tech-Team (the Netherlands).

Organic growth

Thomas Halletz, CEO, Kiefel, said the announcement comes following several acquisitions and organic growth in recent years and it now wants to take full advantage of upcoming market opportunities.

“The Kiefel team has managed dynamic development in recent years within the rigid plastic packaging market. Now we are preparing our organization for the next level,” he said.

According to Smither’s Pira, The Future of Rigid Plastic Packaging to 2022 global rigid plastic packaging consumption will exceed $200bn by 2022 and volume consumption of rigid plastics globally will reach 63.4m tonnes over the next five years.

The report states rigid plastic packaging will continue to profit from the drive to replace traditional materials – principally glass and metal – with lighterweight, more cost-effective and higher performance plastic materials in various markets.

Restructure

As part of the group changes, the Kiefel Tray-Team will concentrate on steel-rule technology as a base for tray-type products; the Cup-Team will focus on tilting-/trim-in-place technology to produce cup-type products; the Bottle-Team will specialize in Injection-Stretch-Blow-Technology and the Tech-Team will offer services including assistance in product-development, R&D, material-research, product analysis and simulation.

Following this collective approach, all activities will operate under one single name. Therefore the companies “Mould & Matic Solutions GmbH” and “Bosch Sprang BV” have been renamed to “KIEFEL Packaging GmbH” and “KIEFEL Packaging BV” respectively.
