Software development company, DN2K, has launched DairyInsight to provide dairy producers with a comprehensive data capture of their operations.

The launch of the data capture and analytics platform for dairy producers comes at a pivotal time for the dairy industry as it is becoming increasingly important to connect the dairy supply chain with associated data, DN2K president and CEO Susan Lambert said.

“Rolling up data from the farm to give better visibility into quality, sustainability and animal wellbeing is important to consumer trust,” Lambert told DairyReporter.

“We believe by solving data capture on the farm, we can enable a data driven supply chain and drive a more profitable and sustainable industry.”

According to the company, DairyInsight brings new visibility and a deep analysis into the data collected from dairy farm operations providing farmers, co-ops, food companies, financial partners and investors with valuable insights.

The platform enables a full data capture and sharing for stakeholders and partners reducing time required to act on crucial production decisions and increasing transparency of data affecting downstream decisions like planning and forecasting, DN2K said.

“The launch of this platform offers dairy producers a solution that will maximize data flow and analysis from existing investments and eliminate the pain points for partners across the dairy value chain who are struggling with access to the data from multiple sources,” Lambert added.

24/7 dairy operations

Many dairy operators have relied on manual methods of collecting, storing, and analyzing data, according to DN2K. The amount of data that needs to be monitored (feed supplies, temperature, weather, herd health, cow comfort, and commodity prices) is also vast and many dairy farmers use multiple standalone data software systems, making data collection and analysis a time-consuming task.

“Running a dairy is a 24/7 operation,” Lambert said. “Dairy managers often work 14+ hour days to ensure all aspects of their business are running smoothly. This leaves very little time to look at the data generated on the farm.”

The DairyInsight platform provides access to a secure, cloud enabled portal for farmers, co-ops, food companies and retailers who need complete and actionable data to understand performance and better understand and predict key trends.

“DairyInsight is unique in its ability to aggregate data from multiple sources and systems and correlate and analyze the data across these sources to generate new insights on the farm,” Lambert said.

The DairyInsight platform is designed to rapidly integrate into existing dairy operations and the company plans to continue to build partnerships with current technology vendors to further simply data collection for dairy producers, DN2K said.
