Innovation watch: Customising wine with Vinfusion
Exhibiting at drinktec, Cambridge Consultants presented its ‘Vinfusion’ technology: which lets consumers customize their wine at the point of dispense based on three parameters.
Consumers are able to adjust the characteristics of their wine from light to full bodied; soft to fiery; and choose the amount of sweetness.
The technology can help consumers learn more about the wine selection available to them, explains Sajith Wimalaratne, head of food and beverage development, Cambridge Consultants.
“The reason we did this is because wine is a very complex beverage, not everyone understands it. Consumers are just sticking to one or two wines that they know, not trying the amazing range of wines out there. So we want to see how technology can close that gap.”
