The Coca-Cola Company and Coca-Cola FEMSA will acquire Unilever’s AdeS soy-based beverage business for $575m.

AdeS  is the leading Latin American soy-based beverage brand, founded in Argentina in 1988 and is now present in Brazil, Mexico, Argentina, Paraguay, Uruguay, Bolivia, Chile and Colombia. AdeS sold 56.2m unit cases with net revenues of $284m in 2015.

The drinks contain vitamins A, C, D and E and are a source of calcium and iron.

Coca-Cola said the acquisition of AdeS will help it provide increased choice of nutritious and delicious products to consumers.

Unilever said the sale is a ‘step in reshaping’ its Latin American portfolio, enabling it to sharpen its focus.
