Special editions 2015

Joy in Juice and Smoothies: Juice is a key global growth category for 2014-20, after several years in the doldrums in established markets due to high natural sugar content. How can manufacturers reformulate here to assuage consumer concerns? What impact is aseptic and HPP processing having on value perceptions? Can juice manufacturers hybridize with water, CSDs, or even dairy drinks to cut costs or provide another point of difference? With regards to packaging and branding - how can it help to 'sell' the health benefits (nutrient content and naturalness) beyond high headline sugar content?

Authentic Tea Tastes: A growing consumer segment sees RTD teas as too sweet and inauthentic, so there’s a growing market for strong tea infusions (for that ‘freshly brewed’ taste), as well as use of herbs, spices and fruits. Euromonitor predicts that RTDs will grow 16% in the off-trade in the US alone from 2013-18, so we’ll look at taste trends, flavor systems and sweeteners in this booming segment, and also touch on innovation in hot tea, which has been slower-paced to date.

Fizzing-Up Carbonates: Taking in everything from craft colas to premium sparkling waters (a key US growth category) we look at ingredients, packaging and processing solutions (aseptic or ESL tech, for instance) to meet the growing demand for 'naturalness', quality and taste satisfaction, as well as health.

Crafting A Difference: We hone in on craft beer, with a look at processing kit for SMEs (wort kettles, fillers, etc. and the associated technical challenges brewers face) and larger companies seeking to hit that ‘craft’ sweet spot. Packaging, another focus, provides a key P.O.D in this 'premium' sector.

Brau Beviale: A post-show newsletter to wrap up the best of the action from Nuremberg, Germany.
