Beam Inc. will build a 600,000 square foot distribution center near existing production facilities in Kentucky to improve supply chain efficiencies.

Construction at the site in Franklin County is due to start in late February and be finished by the end of 2014. The facility will be operated by a third-party logistics provider and employ around 60 staff.

The center will house Beam’s distilled spirits brands and finished case goods bottled in Frankfort, prior to their shipping to distributor partners for sale in the US and worldwide.

“With two-thirds of Beam’s total spirits case volume being produced in Kentucky, having our new Beam long-term distribution facility in close proximity to our production will help us gain increased efficiencies in our supply chain,” said David Hunter, VP of global manufacturing for Beam, said of the site chosen in Franklin County.
