Speaking with DairyReporter.com at drinktec 2013 about its new Innosept Asbofill ASR machine, KHS pinpointed increasing demand from liquid milk processors for PET packaging as a key driver of fresh interest in aseptic filling technology.

According to KHS, the Innosept Asbofill ASR, which has a filling rate of up to 36,000 bottles per hour, is ideal for a range of beverages including juice, sports drinks, milk and milk beverages.

But KHS' Head of Mechanical & Electrical Design Engineering for Aseptic Filling Technology, Paul-Uwe Winterhoff, highlighted milk as an area of particular growth for the company in aseptic filling.

"In the last year we have seen a common trend - that milk is changing from HDPE bottles or from the carton to the PET bottle," said Winterhoff.

"A lot of machines are now sold, for example in Russia, to go with dairy products in PET."
