Winestar co-founder wants brand in cans to be 'Nespresso of wine'
French wine brand Winestar claims to be the first French brand to launch premium quality wine nationwide in cans, and co-founder Cedric Segal says the firm aims to 'become the Nespresso of wine and popularize' it.

Segal told online news outlet The Connexion that the brand wanted to produce high quality wine in small-format packs and was aiming for a youth market that had turned to other alcoholic beverages and soft drinks instead.

Winestar's first range of wines comes in 187ml cans produced by Ball Packaging, and comprises an AOC Corbières red, a white and a rosé from the Château de l'Ille in Languedoc-Roussillon.

The 187 ml cans sell at €2.50 each at fine grocery stores, wine sellers and through food service channels, and says promising export orders have been received from England, Belgium, Denmark, Finland, Norway, China and Russia.
