A limited edition collection of ‘Star Trek wine’ has is now being sold by online retailer Vinport.com, which claims the bottles it offers are the first ever attached to the hit sci-fi show.

The wine is produced by Viansa Winery in Sonoma, California, and each bottle features a label commemorating one of Star Trek’s most famous episodes from the Original Series.

Blending Merlot, Saniovese, Cabernet Franc, Dolcetto, Tinta Cao and Tempranillo grapes, the 2009 wine is described by Vinport as a “medium-bodied, easy-drinking red wine that is full of depth and character”.

The wine is due for lift-off in 56 days time, but is available on presale order for $24.99/bottle.

Each label is designed by artist Juan Ortiz, who has created a collection of 80 original prints to commemorate each episode of the Original Series.

Thus, the labels commemorate such episodes as The Trouble with Tribbles, The City on the Edge of Forever and Mirror Mirror.
