Mocon has created four business units
Organic growth and acquisition has led to Mocon creating four global business units: US-based Permeation; Industrial Analysers and Microbial Detection; and Package Testing, based in Denmark.

The company, which specialises in making package integrity instruments, said it had made multiple acquisitions in the past 15 years. These include Microanalytics, based in Texas in the US, and Lippke, based in Neuwied, Germany.

It added that it has also grown from a manufacturer of permeation equipment for packaging applications to providing products and services covering areas such as food safety, gas monitoring and aroma and odour analysis.

"This reorganisation has been driven by organic growth, coupled with our recent acquisitions," said Mocon chief executive Don DeMorett.

Realigning our product portfolio

"By realigning our product portfolio, we will be better able to provide targeted product and service solutions, regardless of where in the world our customers are located."

Key product offerings through its Permeation business unit include instruments for analysing film structures and packaging for oxygen, carbon dioxide and water vapour transmission. It is also offering testing for organic compounds and hazardous material transmission rates, as well as aroma, flavour, off-odour and formulation.

The Package Testing unit offers analysis of areas such as headspace analysis instruments, leak detection, package integrity, seal and burst testers and modified atmosphere gas analysis.

Microbial detection

Gas chromatography and continuous environmental air and water quality monitors are among the services provided by its Industrial Analysers unit. And Mocon's Microbial Detection Unit offers same-day microbial count tests based on its GreenLight food safety product line.

"Mocon and its subsidiaries sell products and services in six continents and more than 75 countries," said DeMorett. "The creation of the four global business units, which will be supported by significant regional operations and distributors around the world, will provide consistent quality and service to our global client base."
