Sealed Air Diversey and GE forge global alliance

Sealed Air Diversey and GE have announced a global alliance to deliver water and energy management services to Diversey’s worldwide cleaning and sanitation customers in the beverage and food industries.

Following a successful pilot over the past year, the agreement involves Sealed Air Diversey selling GE’s water treatment chemicals, water and process equipment, membrane and cartridge filtration products, analytical instruments and energy management solutions.

Heiner Markhoff, GE Power and Water CEO, said: “The Diversey alliance will bring our leading water portfolio and services to an expanded customer base.”

Describing Diversey as a market leader in commercial cleaning and sanitation, in particular for food and beverage plants, Markhoff added that the firm was well-positioned to connect customers to GE’s products and services.

These would help GE customers “implement cost- and environmentally efficient water and process technology solutions”, he said.

Javier Mejias, executive director, Sealed Air Beverage Sector, said: “GE has the industry’s most broad solution set, including chemicals ad equipment for effective and safe water treatment” to supplement his firm’s expertise in water management.

“Diversey wil expand GE’s access to an extensive global customer base looking for ways to protect their assets, drive productivity and meet regulations,” he added.

In late September, GE also introduced a new line of environmentally friendly molybdate-free water treatment chemicals for food and beverage industry use, FodPro ST8069 and FoodPro ST8070.

Designed to prevent corrosion in sterilizers and pasteurizers used during processing steps, the new chemicals have a lower price point than existing solutions, due to the lack of molybdate.

GE claims, on average, 30% better cost-effectiveness on the basis of treating 1m³ of water.

“Companies are continually seeking ways to optimize their sterilizer and pasteurizer operations to minimize outages to achieve the highest levels of food safety and to ensure that productivity is not impacted by inadequate process treatments,” said Han Engelen, Europe marketing director, water process technologies, for GE Power and Water.
