EFSA backs glucose to benefit “energy-yielding metabolism”

German supplements and sports nutrition firm, Dextro Energy GmbH & Co. KG, has won an article 13.5 emerging and proprietary science claim linking glucose and energy.

EFSA’s Panel on Dietetic Products, Nutrition and Allergies (NDA) referenced an earlier article 13 general function opinion for energy-yielding metabolism”​, although Dextro requested the claim that glucose, “supports normal physical activity”.

Seems ridiculous to me

I read the abstract and I don't understand why an entire panel had to review a claim that has been known for as long as we have known about and understood the Krebs Cycle. In fact it's such common knowledge that I have to wonder, what am I missing?
