Crown Holdings will increase beverage can production in Vietnam with a new facility by mid-2013.

The new plant in Danang is one of six expected to begin production by next year and will be Crown’s fourth beverage can site in Vietnam, with two bases in Ho Chi Minh City and one in Hanoi.

Production is expected to be operational in the second quarter of 2013 and the site will have an initial annual capacity of 750m two-piece 33cl cans, said Crown.

The US-based packaging supplier currently operates five beverage can plants in China and seven two-piece beverage can sites in South-Asia.

Jozef Salaerts, president of Crown Asia-Pacific, said: “Our new facility in Danang, supported by a long term contract with a major brewer, further extends our strong geographical footprint and ensures we can continue to support our customers with the innovative packaging that consumers prefer.”
