Krones has launched a new generation polyethylene terephthalate (PET) blow moulding machine series that it says offers increased production outputs and reduced energy and air consumption.

Launching its Contiform 3 series (pictured) on the eve of the Brau Beviale trade show in Germany, the company said it had entirely redesigned some of the individual process steps involved, including the machine’s blow moulding module.

In a statement Krones said: The field-proven linear oven of the Continform S/H series has been design-enhanced and principally optimised in regard to its energy consumption.

During the development process for Contiform 3, Krones said its engineers paid particular attention to: increasing production output per blow-moulding station and reducing overall energy and air consumption.

An improved hygenic design, shorter product change-over times and greater user-friendliness were other advantages cited by the company.

Record outputs claimed

The new range features sizes ranging from 8 to 36 blow moulding stations, with Krones claiming recordoutputs of up to 81,000 containers per hour.

Krones said the machines could be directly monobloc-syncronised with a filler, or in the ErgoBloc L with the blow-moulder incorporating both a labeller and a filler.

The company said that heatset and small-cavity versions of Contiform 3 would be available from the middle of next year, with customers also able to integrate ProShape for producing oval containers and Contipure for pre-form decontamination.

According to Krones:“With the new generation of the Contiform stretch blow-moulder, Krones has come up with a machine that progresses the provenly reliable and simple concept involved, and in all regards sets new standards on this market.”

Krones added that its Contiform brand was 14 years old, and that more than 1,500 machines bearing it had been installed worldwide to date.
