MAP packaging ensures fresh bread

The Scirocco PB is a flow pack system for high speed MAP designed for packing bread, pasta and other fresh products.
Modified-atmosphere packaging (MAP) is used extensively in the food industry as a means of extending shelf life. Typically, air is removed from the space above the food as it is being packed by flushing the package with an inert gas such as carbon dioxide or nitrogen.
It is an increasingly lucrative technology for packaging companies currently used to provide fresher food such as sandwiches, fresh pizzas and meats.
Features of the Scirocco machine include Super Long Dwell transferring continuous motion transversal sealing system with hermetic sealing for up to 180-200 packs per minute.
According to the company, the equipment is both efficient and user friendly with a servo-assisted operating system, brushless motors and touch screen controls.
Cantilevered construction, rounded corners and easily accessible mechanisms allow for speedy maintenance and cleaning.
The pocket bag system, designed in conjunction with the Scirocco, will be displayed alongside the machine at the Emballage trade fair in Paris next week.
It uses a single reel of thermo sealing film, seals products on three sides and can be customised to print specific designs on the packaging.
