Drinks distribution alliance formed

Darex has announced the formation of a joint marketing and distribution alliance with speciality chemical manufacturer H B Fuller.

US-based Darex, the world's leading supplier of sealants and coatings for cans and closures to the packaged food and beverage industry, has announced the formation of a joint marketing and distribution alliance with speciality chemical manufacturer H B Fuller.

Under the terms of the agreement, H B Fuller will sell Darex's Daran PVdC (polyvinylidene chloride) latex for flexible packaging in conjunction with its hydroflex family of waterborne adhesives for drybond and wetbond laminations. The alliance is effective immediately.

"The Daran product line is a perfect fit with our Hydroflex offerings," said H B Fuller strategic accounts manager Mark Mooney. "This is very exciting. For years we have been unable to fill our customer requests for a better PVdC than was readily available to them.

"Now because of our alliance with Darex, the flexible packaging converter market in North America will have a high performance alternative from a high performance supplier in H B Fuller and Darex."

Daran PVdC latex coatings act as a barrier to oxygen, moisture, aroma, grease and other materials and are used in packaging to protect food and industrial products. The material is also extensively used in multilayer packaging applications.

The latexes are manufactured to meet FDA regulations for coating paper and paperboard and a wide range of plastic substrates for direct and indirect food contact applications."The alliance between Darex and H B Fuller provides a complete solution for building a flexible packaging offering and eliminates the need to buy products from two separate manufacturers," said Darex global marketing manager Mani Subramanian. "This one-stop-shop eases the way for quicker time to market, streamlines accounting processes and leverages industry-leading technology solutions."
