American Purpac Technologies, a new US-based company dedicated to the blending, processing and filling of beverages is to open its first plant on 1 July 2003. The plant, situated in the state of Wisconsin, will employ 65 skilled and semi-skilled workers.

The new 65,500 square foot facility will contain blending, processing and packaging equipment that will aseptically process and fill high acid liquid products as well as an eventual dedicated low acid line.

The packaging sizes produced will range from one-litre flexible bags to 300-gallon flexible bags and totes. In addition, the operation will be able to pack products in 355 ml to 1.5-litre PET bottles and ready-to-drink juice cups through an HTST tunnel pasteuriser. This operation will be one of the only independent facilities with these capabilities in North America.

With this facility, American Purpac Technologies will be able to provide customers with liquid products that are shelf-stable for extended periods and packaged in convenient configurations. A black box solution for food and beverage marketing companies that protects their proprietary base formulas will also be on offer.

The production facility will also be capable of running small batches of up to 500 gallons to test products and concepts and will incorporate next generation thermal cooling technology. Time-reduced QA/QC testing and integrated logistics tracking systems that allow customers to track the progress of their orders on-line will also be introduced.
