Coca-Cola is set to invest around €100 million to expand its existing beverage manufacturing facilities in India, according to Indian newspaper The Hindu.

One of the biggest projects included in the plans is to build a coconut water manufacturing unit in Kerala if the "right environment, technology and location are available."

At an official press conference Coca-Cola said that of the total €100 million allocated for production development, approximately €45 million would be spent in just four southern states - areas where food and beverage production has now begun to be concentrated.

A Coca-Cola spokesman added that the company would expand its existing production units and set up additional categories. The tender coconut water plant is just one of the projects the company is planning.

Coca-Cola has continued to experience strong growth in India, as the company rapidly expands into a number of developing drinks markets there. These include strong growth in the bottled water sector as well as a 26 per cent growth rate in the carbonated drinks sector.
