Procomac, the Italian-based provider of beverage filling lines, has developed a method to bottle fruit nectars and juices in PET containers using aseptic processing systems.

Flash pasteurisation, claims the company, helps to maintain the taste and nutritional properties of the fruit.

Procomac has also developed a special valve for its aseptic filling systems which is able to process juices with high pulp and fibre content.

Two examples of the combination between Procomac aseptic technology and containers with innovative properties, can be found in the production lines installed in the factory of a major beverage company in the United States and at the Sangemini plant in Italy.

The American company has adopted a new line, a sleeve label which protects the juice from ultra-violet rays. The result of this covering label, together with the special shaped bottle, is a distinct package.

Sangemini, on the other hand, has made a different choice for its plant in San Gemini, Italy, using bright green-coloured PET bottles with a Nylon barrier layer sandwiched between two PET layers for its "VITA di Sangemini" range, a new line of preservative- and colourant-free fruit juices and nectars, created with mineral rich Sangemini mineral water and selected fruits, backed up by the guarantee of the aseptic system.
