A new UK recycling centre will be able to convert polyethylene terephthalate (PET) and high density polyethylene (HDPE) plastics back into food grade raw materials for use in new plastic packaging, says Closed Loop.

The UK's food processors will come under greater pressure to ship
their products in environmentally-friendly materials after
government announced a plan to increase minimum recycling targets
for glass and plastics packaging.
Further proposals by the European Parliament to increase the level
of packaging recycling have, naturally, bought about mixed
reactions from the food and beverage manufacturers.
