Coca-Cola Sweden has launched a pilot for refillable, on-the-go drinks solutions in a Stockholm convenience store.

Consumers can bring or buy their own beverage containers to the PBX convenience store, choosing from more than 60 flavors across the Coca-Cola, Fanta, Sprite, FuzeTea and Smartwater brands. Most of these are not available in packaged formats in store.

The trial is being run in collaboration with Glacial: a company which provides insulated reusable beverage containers that can keep products cold for up to 12 hours.

The pilot has been designed to test consumer behaviors when it comes to refilling beverage containers multiple times, and understand the potential of such containers in reducing waste and greenhouse gas emissions.

Packaging accounts for the largest chunk of Coca-Cola Sweden’s carbon emissions – coming in at around 40% - making it a priority as the company aims for net zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2040.
