Jackson Family Wines has achieved a 33% drop in greenhouse gas emissions and a 60% reduction in the water required to produce a bottle of wine over the last decade. In February the company, together with Familia Torres, launched International Wineries for Climate Action with a mission to decarbonize the wine industry. This guest podcast explores their vision.

In this Rabobank Liquid Assets Podcast (which you can listen to below) Katie Jackson and Julien Gervreau from Jackson Family Wines share their bold vision for a more sustainable wine industry and the progress they’ve made in their own operations to reduce emissions and increase efficiency – all while becoming more profitable in the process.

They share some of the steps they’ve taken in their own winery and their ambitious plan to help the rest of the industry do the same. This episode explores:

  • Why being a family-owned business drives Jackson Family Wines to think more about the well-being of future generations
  • What are the goals for International Wineries for Climate Action, a new working group formed by Jackson Family Wines & Familia Torres
  • How Jackson Family Wines dramatically reduced greenhouse gas emissions and water usage at their wineries, while saving and reinvesting millions of dollars in the process
  • What steps other companies can take to tackle climate change in their own business

This podcast features Katie Jackson, SVP of Corporate Social Responsibility at Jackson Family Wines and Julien Gervreau, VP of Sustainability at Jackson Family Wines; alongside Stephen Rannekleiv, Global Strategist of Beverage Research at Rabobank and André Baladi, Executive Director at Rabobank.

This episode was recorded on location at JFW headquarters in Santa Rosa, California, and released July 24, 2019.
